What to expect this Sunday
The countdown to the 2014 Academy Awards has begun. There are just a few hours until the most expected event in the movie industry will start, around 2:30 p.m. today and the prep team has taken all the necessary precautions including for the rainy weather which has fallen upon L.A these days. But don’t worry the red carpet is safe they cover it with plastic.
Ellen DeGeneres returns to host the Oscars
The host, Ellen DeGeneres is more than prepared, is at her second time and backstage she will be live tweeting and tanking pictures throughout the entire show. So, if you want to find out all the scoops behind the curtain, follow her. Fashion wise, she will be wearing Saint Lauren but she will be changing during the show, and watch this, in front of the audience.
In spite of the weather celebrities are ready to show-off their beautiful gowns and their perfect hair and make-up. But, before all that, actresses prepared their skin to be flawless like a porcelain doll. A few of them, like Michelle Williams or Rachel Weisz went to Doctor Colbert for a 20-minute version of his signature Triad facial. For this special event, dermatologist David Colbert set up a temporary beauty clinic in Beverly Hills. If you’re wondering about the price, prepare yourself, the Triad facial costs between $800 and $1,200. I think I’ll take two.
Red carpet dresses
And now, the big question is, what will celebrities wear. Especially since, designers are fighting to dress them, most of all the Oscar nominees. If you thought that actresses pay thousands of dollars on the dress, you better think twice. The red carpet looks are rented. Furthermore, celebrities are often paid to wear the dresses because is a lot cheaper for the brands. According to Reuters, dressing an actress for Oscar is significantly less than paying for an ad campaign. Major fashion houses like Dior or Chanel are trying to land not just one but more actresses to wear their gowns which makes little room for younger labels. But few do succeed. So I really look forward to see the novelties.
Until then, we should expect Jennifer Lawrence in Dior; she is the brand ambassador. Also I think Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera dresses will be seen on the red carpet. They are truly magnificent. Also, all eyes for sure will be on best supporting actress nominee Lupita Nyong’o from “12 Years a Slave”. I wonder what vibrant color she will choose this time.
