One of the fashion industry’s most creative, outrageous and prolific designers contemporary with us must be the cartoonish like Karl Lagerfeld. With a profound respect of what he has done for fashion and fashion magazines, I chose today to write something about Karl’s perfectly shaped character .
As I remember he is the only fashion designer with a teddy bear replica of himself…that must be something, no? But it is not of what I want to write you about. I want to express my own opinion about his life, the impact hat his creations had on me, among others.
Believe it or not, i think Lagerfeld opened himself most with those brilliant quotes about life, people, food and fashion. As I recall his mother had a deep impact on himself, shaping his character, making him be really aware of what he is, but not really in a good way. She was the woman that pushed his limits, in a different way that a mother would do. He was a creative little man since he remembers, and as the time passed, the meaning of his life became to dress women, because he thinks that a woman is an inspiration and the perfect little doll.
As time passed, The Black Sunglasses became a statement for the fashion designer, and not because they are just so fabulous! for his character, they had a double meaning, and the second one was to hide his eyesight.
Karl Lagerfeld is a fashion expert who can put most people to shame with his knowledge of style. He’s older in this industry than many of them , but he’ll always know what “x” is the new black. For more than 40 years his career included stops at Chanel, Fendi and Chloe, and his own label.
He is eccentric in all ways. If you didn’t know, he has a cat named Choupette. Oh… that furry little thing, its so spoiled that you can’t even imagine! It has 3 designer’s bowls made by Goyard. She has one for water, one for her little croquette, and one for her pate and she eats everything from the table . The designer loves her so much that it made a collection of accessories inspired from Choupette. The range features a knitted cap with cat’s ears and leather whiskers, a leather cat-shaped tote bag, fingerless gloves, a key chain, a wool scarf, a cross-body bag and iPad and iPhone covers.
Back to fashion now, because the monochrome designer really touched my soul with the spring collection from Chanel. The colors are pale and clean, the layering textures cross from tweed to flecks and shinny ribbons. But the most important thing , as the designer suggests are the two tendencies: “very androgyne and boyish, and very feminine. But no stiletto, no platforms, no Louboutins!” Instead, try wearing a pair of stylish flat sneakers ! How amazing it sounds?
