Creativity is something we all desire. Most of us think that there isn’t one spark of creativity inside us and only some special few have this awesome gift. If you really think this, let me tell you that you are dead wrong. Creativity is a skill and like any other skill in this world can easily be learned exercised and mastered.
In the right side of the brain is where creativity can be found. And although we use both sides of the brain each of us has a dominant one. Those with a right-side dominant brain are better with spatial awareness, imagination, daydreaming, holistic awareness and music awareness. The ones who us the left-side are better at analytical thinking, reasoning, language, science and math, language skills. But the most important think you must have in mind is that the brain is a muscle and can be train to do what you wish. So you can improve whatever skill you want as long as you are determined and hard working.
Getting back to creativity, a study showed that around 97% of people find their creative ideas in all sorts of places like: in nature, in the bathroom, while playing with their children and only 3% at work. So, for starters work less and play more. I’m just kidding…or not.
Listen to music
Not just any kind of music. Classical music calms your mind and makes you see things from a different angle. As I’m writing this post I’m trying this method and I can say it relaxes you and your thought come in a peaceful way. I really am inspired.
Innovation comes from knowledge. So read as much as possible. Read things you don’t normally read. By reading a lot you’ll open your mind to new ways of thinking making you in the end more creative. So don’t waste time and star reading a book.
Try new things
Seeking out new experiences will expose you to new, different ideas, make you question things and see them in a new perspective.
An inquisitive mind is the heart of creativity. So don’t be afraid to sound stupid and start asking questions, whatever comes in mind. Wonder about how things work. “What if” is the beginning of endless possibilities.
Don’t be afraid
Get out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to take risks. Find what brings you joy and do that thing. Trying, even if you fail makes you stronger not weaker or vulnerable. The important thing is to learn and challenge yourself and you will get to the next level.
There are lots of things to do to be more creative, the important thing is to really want it. Meditation also helps, as being in the nature as much as possible, or brainstorming. So put an end to your idleness and start working your brain muscle!
