The road that leads to big dreams
This weekend we went for a walk in the city. And on our walk we stopped at a coffee shop we really like, bought some coffee for home and enjoyed a nice cappuccino and a latte. The taste is incredible. I enjoy this ritual very much. Of course we couldn’t go straight home so we took a detour to nice bookstore downtown in a white 2 story old building full of natural light, books, where we were surrounded by the smell of Christmas. Heaven on Earth, I must tell you! And I couldn’t just leave empty handed. We bought books to devour.
Here are the 3 books that caught my attention and ended up on my nightstand:
1 Focus: The hidden driver of excellence – Daniel Goleman
The famous Daniel Goleman who wrote the best seller Emotional Intelligence has brings up another interesting subject: Our Attention. How we use it may affect our life and incline the balance towards good or bad. Definitely a must read in my opinion
2 The Idiot Brain: A Neuroscientist Explains What Your Head is Really Up To – Dean Burnett
As I was browsing through the bookstore’s shelves this book was calling my name J I couldn’t ignore the message: The Idiot Brain. Is my brain idiot? And if so why? And what can I do about it? All these questions pop into my head and I knew I have to buy and read this book.
3. The art of list making – Dominique Loreau.
A nicely designed cover full of words and random drawings cought me by surprise. What do we have here, I asked myself? First, I thought it was a drawing book, but the cover is misleading. Then I took it into my hands, read the excerpt and clink!!! Who doesn’t make list? Me! And when you find out there is an art in list making…then…I just knew I had to have it and read it as quickly as possible. I just started it, definitely I will tell you more as soon as I finish it.
Till next time, tell me, what books are you reading now or are on your reading list?
