What do to on a cold, rainy day
First thing’s firs: no Facebook for you or any other social media. It’s time to relax and enjoy a cozy day in your beautiful home with games, movies and other enjoyable activities. Will leave the bad weather outside and will start to have some indoor fun. Here are some ways to spend your time at home on a wretched day.
This is one of many choices that you have to start having fun on a gloomy, cold day. Remove the dust of you PlayStation, Xbox or Wii, get your partner or friend and let the game party begin.
Some of the best games this year are: Grand Theft Auto V, Alien: Isolation, Mario Kart 8, The Walking Dead Season 2 or you can simply start rocking your room and neighbors with your friends with Wii’s Rock Band 3.
Maybe you’re not into games and music sounds better on a freezing day. Get your hot chocolate or tea, make yourself comfortable on the sofa and enjoy some great new albums. If you’re into rock and alternative rock here are some of the best albums this year are that you can choose from:
- Pixies – Indie City
- Manic Street Preachers – Futurology
- Foo Fighters – Sonic Highways
- Morrissey – World Peace is none of your Business
- Linking Park – The Hunting Party
- Lorde – Pure Heroine
- Imagine Dragons – Night Visions
- Coldplay – Ghost Stories
- Rise Against – The Black Market
- Jack White – Lazaretto
- Beck – Morning Phase
- Bruce Springsteen – High Hopes
And there are so many that I have to write a post about it. Take into consideration that this is only rock or more alternative rock genre. Maybe you like other genres or some classical music will go a long way, a Beethoven or Mahler never goes out of style.
In the end a great piece of music of your choosing and a hot beverage are the perfect mode to spend time in a dismal day.
Movies are always a great alternative, especially on a bad weather day. Turn on your big screen TV and surround system and push the play button on your favorite movie on your latest DVD purchased. There are so many movies that I can’t even name just a few. It all depends on your mood. Maybe you prefer a comedy, like an Adam Sandler movie so you could watch Blended, or you would like a thriller or a SF like Automata with Antonio Banderas or a classic like Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe’s Some like it hot. It’s all up to you. Enjoy! I know I will, I want to watch again Fight Club with Brad Pit.
When all your other options are won-out you can always read, if that wasn’t your first option all along. No matter the place on your list, books are always a pleasant way to spend time. At the moment I’m reading a classic: Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. On the other hand you have endless alternatives. A life of nonstop reading won’t be enough to read the essentials. Looking on the bright side you have a lot of possibilities whether you like fiction, fantasy or memoir and autobiography, there is a great selection to choose from with only a search a way if you don’t have a must read list.
For example, if you’re going to goodreads.com you can see the 2014 nominees on categories. Among the best nonfiction of 2014 nominees that you can read are Michio Kaku with The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance and Empower the Mind or Dan Harris with 10% Happier. In nonfiction you can choose, one of my favorite authors, Haruki Murakami with its last book Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage or Margaret Atwood with Stone Mattress: Nine Tales. You are the only one that knows exactly what you like and need at the moment. I only made some recommendations.
Finally, whatever you choose I hope you have a great day and a magnificent weekend and maybe share what are your favorite activities on a cold, gloomy day.
