After this mini vacation when I ate and then ate some more, I thought that today it’s time for some pampering. And with that thougt in mind, I made myself a cup of coffee, the old fashioned way, in a pan on the stove. I almost never use the coffeemaker or any other fancy machine. This is the real taste of coffee.
Back to the point, the focus is on the coffee grounds which remain and you throw away. Big mistake! Coffee grounds are a gold mine for my skin. I used them to scrub my face and its divine! I mixed them with a little bit of honey and on my clean face I gently massage that mixture with circular moves, avoiding the eyes area. I leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water. This simple homemade combination leaves my skin smooth and soft like a baby and I have pretentious skin; it’s very sensitive and dry.
Afterwards, I apply on my face plain, simple Greek yogurt and leave it for about 20 minutes. I put a thick layer and If it enters quickly in my skin I add some more. I’m not cheap with the yogurt. And then I stay quietly on my sofa reading a good book, while the yogurt works its magic.
I started reading Une Femme Aimée by Andrei Makine. It captivated me. It’s a strong book: you love it or you hate it, there is no middle way. It’s about the Russian empress Ekaterina II. Reading this book made me forget about the mask so I left it around 40 minutes until it became stiffed.
The Greek yogurt has a lot of milk fat, around 10% which hydrates your skin very well and it truly did. After rinsing it, my skin got lighter and also my pores were smaller.
All I can say in the end is that, a good book and a homemade scrub and mask is all you need to have a perfect afternoon for your body and soul.
