It’s the beginning of December and Christmas is almost here. Yupyyy… I can hardly wait 🙂 I’m still a child (deep inside or..maybe not that deep) As I was saying, time runs fast and the holidays are around the corner. So, with the holiday spirit in mind we’ll write a series of Christmas related posts and this is the first piece: a list of movies to watch this Christmas. They are all time favorite, I’ve seen them a couple of times, maybe you did too. I know I can’t help myself but see them again around this time of the year. There is a special feeling surrounding this holiday… joy, warmth, coziness and the list can continue. It’s simply magical 🙂
Returning to my list, I want to share my favorite movies that I want to watch on Christmas and maybe you would to. Also you can come up with suggestions. I’m open 🙂
1. It’s a Wonderful Life 1946
It’s not Christmas without Frank Capra’s classic It’s a wonderful life. Due to a copyright quirk this movie was forgotten for a long period of time. Not anymore! Since the late 70 this engaging stories is one of the most beloved American movies especially this time of year.
2. Miracle on 34th street
Another popular film is Miracle on 34th street. This three-time OSCAR Winning film fills the room with that long-awaited Christmas joy. I’ve been watching this movie every year for Christmas for some years now. It’s a great watch for the holiday season.
3. Home Alone
A great family movie for the holidays. Big or small you cannot enjoy this Christmas comedy full of laughter and joy. It lift’s up you spirit when you watch it, even if you’ve seen it a couple of hundred times before 🙂
This is another funny movie to watch, perfect for all ages. It never gets old to see Will Farrell in Elf during this special time of the year. It’s an enjoyable seasonal favorite that should not miss our list.
5. Edward Scissorhands
An excellent Tim Burton movie with in which Johnny Depp is great. It’s a wonderful film which has it all: funny, sad, great music and acting. It’s a movie with a message and an emotional story.
6. A Christmas Carol
Disney’s a Christmas Carol it’s absolutely wonderful to view. The animation is very real and Carrey it’s pretty damn good. Robert Zemeckis interpretation of the classic story made it a great holiday film to watch.
7. The Nightmare Before Christmas
The pumpkin king has arrived and is here to stay on my Christmas movie list. One of the best movies to watch on a holiday, be that Halloween or Christmas, and its name is The nightmare before Christmas. This movie that wasn’t directed by Tim Burton but by Henry Selick is a masterpiece and has easily become a household favorite since its original release in 1993. You should definitely watch it this holiday season.
8. Love Actually
It’s a chick flick 🙂 but perfect for the holiday spirit. It’s refreshing. It has a great cast, I love Colin Firth and it’s extremely entertaining. It leaves you happy :).A really great feel good movie to watch.
9. The Santa Clause 1994
Another fun movies to watch with your entire family. It isn’t Christmas without watching this holiday classic. I think this is the best of the series. It’s heart-warming and magical. It’s Santa Clause! 🙂 It’s time to revive the children within you!
10. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2000 remake
Jim Carrey is back on my list, and joins “it’s a Wonderful Life”, “A Christmas Story” and “A Christmas Carol” as must watch Christmas movies, this time playing the Grinch. You’ll have lots of good laughs with this remake. This is always a fun movie to watch, especially on Christmas.
Have a very merry Christmas and enjoy these movies in the company of your loved ones! I know I will 🙂
